Title
Bronze Age chert debitage
Description
English: A collection of two pieces of Bronze Age chert debtage (c. 2350- 800BC) Both pieces are tertiary flakes, as there is no cortex remaining and both show signs of multi-platform working.

Flake A has been strongly repatinated by fire, to a creamy white colour , with a crackled appearance. The dorsal face retains evidence of three negative flake scars struck in apposing directions. While the ventral face, retains evidence of at least two if not possibly three striking platforms; due to the extent of re-patination it is impossible to indicate whether this flake has been hard or soft hammer struck. It is 53.86mm in length, with a maximum width of 28.09mm and a minimum width of 30.07mm. It is 11.60mm thick with a weight of 24.88g

Flake B, has a broadly triangular cross section, flat ventral face, and is in the form of a blade. The dorsal surface, has five negative flake scars, struck at varying angles, suggestive of the multi-platform working more common in the Bronze Age. The ventral surface has a single, high bulb of percussion with closely spaced conchoidal ripple marks indicative of the use of a hard (Stone) hammer. The chert is black in colour, with white and buff speckled inclusions. It is 41.38mm in length, with a maximum width of 20.70mm, and a minimum width of 17.75mm. It is 14.23mm thick with a weight of 12.46g
