Title |
Bronze Age cast copper alloy socketed axehead |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper alloy object. It appears to be a miscast, or rejected, socketed Bronze Age axehead, though it may possibly be a very oddly shaped piece of casting waste. The outer surfaces display a patination suggestive of excessive heat. The axe may have been removed from the cast before it was properly cooled, or the cast broke due to overheating, or an inexpert attempt may have been made to repair a damaged axe.
The length is 100mm, the width is 36mm, and the thickness is 28mm. Dates from between c1150 & c800 BC. |
