Title |
Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead |
||
Description |
English: A flint barbed and tanged arrowhead dating from the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age (c. 2700 BC - c.1600 BC). The arrowhead is bifacially worked and sub-triangular in plan with flat sides. There are two round ended notches in the base, flanking the central square tang. The tang terminates in an old break. One barb is square. The other barb is missing doe to an old break and would have been substantially smaller due to a mistake during manufacture. The arrowhead has been bifacially worked and exhibits covering semi-abrupt retouch down both edges and across the point on both sides, and there is evidence of a larger flake removal on one side. The flint is a mottled light grey and off-white colour with some iron staining.
It is 22.28mm long, 17.59mm wide and 3.95mm thick; it weighs 1.2g.
