Title
Bronze Age axe (fragment)
Description
English: A fragment of a copper-alloy socketed axe or palstave, dating from the Middle to Late Bronze Age.

The sub-rectangular piece represents one of the bottom corners of the axe. The thickness tapers towards the cutting edge. The surfaces have a bright green patina and are corroded in places. Patination of the breaks indicates that the damage occurred in antiquity. The piece measures 20.7mm long, 18.7mm wide and up to 7.4mm thick. The weight is 11.5g.
