Title
Bronze Age awl (probably)
Description
English: A copper-alloy awl. The form and surviving patination of this piece suggest a Bronze Age date. For a similar artefact, see Annable and Simpson 1964: 47/101, no.205. The upper part of the tool consists of the tang, which is of rectangular section and tapers towards the top. At the base is a wide, ring-shaped moulding. Below this is a tapering point of circular section. The artefact is heavily corroded but retains traces of a dark green patina. It measures 51mm long, 13.5mm wide and weighs 12.73g.
