Title |
Bronze Age Razor |
||
Description |
English: Fragment of Late Bronze Age/Iron Age copper-alloy razor, probably less than half surviving. One end of the cutting edge meets the side at an angle of more than 90º. Above this corner the top edge is broken away across a projection. Next to this scar a break cuts across an openwork aperture, the upper edge of which consists of a narrow bar. One broad face carries longitudinal marks perhaps from hammering. This belongs to Piggott’s (1946) Class III comprising exotic, i.e. Continental, types. It is atypical, other examples having much narrower angles between cutting edge and sides. Length >27mm. Height >22mm. c.800 – c.600 BC. |
