Title
Bronze Age Barbed and Tanged Arrowhead
Description
English: An incomplete barbed and tanged flint arrowhead of Early Bronze Age date (2150 BC - 1500 BC). Length: 27.8mm; width: 18.9mm and 4.3mm thick. Weight: 1.83g. This grey flint arrowhead is largely flat on one side (the ventral face) and slightly convex on the other side (the dorsal face). One barb is missing due to a recent break. The ventral surface has been re-touched along each edge and the dorsal surface has been flaked overall. This arrowhead is similar to the group described within Butler (who is summarising Green's': Flint Arrowheads of the British Isles') and is best described as a fancy barbed and tanged arrowhead. See Butler 2005, 'Prehistoric Flintwork'. 162-65.
