Title
Bronze Age Axehead fragment G Hendley
Description
English: An incomplete late Bronze Age copper alloy socketed axe. The piece represents the lower part of the blade, including the cutting edge. The blade end and part of the sub-rectangular socket survive with the remainder having been lost to an old break. The socket does not extend into the blade tip. The axe has a triangular profile and the blade itself expands very slightly beyond the sides of the axe to create a slight crescent shape. The artefact has a bright green patina. The remains of a central casting flash are visible on each of the two narrower faces, indicates that the artefact was produced in a two-piece mould. Similar to SF-F920C4, ESS-396124 and DENO-27F343 on the database.

The Length is 53mm, the width is 48mm and the weight is 97.8g.
