Title
Bronze Age Axehead
Description
English: A severely corroded fragment of a cast copper alloy axehead of Bronze Age date (2150 BC - 800 BC). Length 46.8mm, width 37.2mm and 5.7mm thick. Weight 28.22g.

The fragment consists of the lower part of the blade and has a semi-circular cutting edge as viewed in plan. The transverse break is old and abraded. One face has a gouged area which appears to have been created by a large impact, possibly by the plough.

The object is pitted due to corrosion and is suffering from bronze disease. It also has a patchy corroded brown patina.

Due to its fragmentary condition and severe coerrosion, it is not possible to determine the classification of the axehaed.
