Title
Bronze Age : Socketed axe
Description
English: A late Bronze Age, socketed axe fragment dating from 1150 – 800 BC.

The axe was found as a single find. Only a small fragment of the axe survives. The fragment represents part of the mouth, the loop and a small part of the body. The axe fragment survives in a very poor condition and much of the original surface has been lost.

The mouth of the socket has a mouth moulding. Below the lower moulding the loop extends out from the side of the axe. A casting line can be seen running from the mouth moulding and it continues along the loop.
