Title
Bronze Age : Axe
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy socketed axe fragment, found as a single find. The fragment consists of the incomplete blade and part of the faces of the axe; therefore the body and mouth do not survive. The surface of the metal is worn and corroded; therefore no casting flashes are visible. The blade expands at the cutting edge, but the socket does not extend into the blade tips. The cutting edge is corroded; therefore the original surface has been lost. The outer surfaces have a dark brownish-green patina. The breaks are well worn. Socketed axes date to the Late Bronze Age.
