Title
Bronze Age: Spear
Description
English: Cast copper alloy fragment from the tip of a blade; possibly from a mid to late Bronze Age spear / spearhead (c. 1400-800 BC). The fragment consists of the upper blade / terminal of the central rib. A relatively fresh break is present on the lower edge of the fragment. The edges of the spear blade are lost through abrasion / plough roll; from what survives these would have been relatively fine and very thin. The section of the blade is distinctly lentoid with a prominent central ridge. The central rib expands from the tip to the broken edge. The fragment has a dark brownish green coloured patina which has been abraded in places; at these points a lighter green active corrosion is present. Due to the size and natured of this fragment a direct parallel has not been found.

The blade fragment measures; 29.9mm length, 8.8mm width is 3.6mm thick and weighs 2.6 grams.
