Description

Bromstad (gnr. 13 bnr. 1) tilhørte i middelalderen domkapitlet og ble etter reformasjonen en del av biskopens prebende.

I 1778 bygslet justisråd Carelius gården, og i 1783 hadde major Christian F. Meyer bygselen. I 1794 byttet majoren til seg gården mot to gårder han eide i Stjørdal.

Fra 1820 tilhørte gården kaptein Mathias C. Stabell og senere hans sønn løytnant Aage F. S. Stabell. Han solgte gården til forvalter Peter Moxnæss, hvis enke satt med gården fram til 1908 da hun overdrog den til sin svigersønn Karl Jermstad. Jermstad solgte siden gården i 1929 til Ottar Vasseljen.

Under Bromstad gård hørte husmannsplassene Bromstadgjerdet, Bromstadgrinden, Bromstadmark, Bromstadmyr og Bromstadplass.

Under andre verdenskrig beslagla tyskerne 200 dekar av gården og dette området ble bl.a. benyttet som fangeleir for 700 sovjetrussiske krigsfanger.

Gårdens hovedbygning er utført i sveitserstil og oppført av forvalter Moxnæss. En periode fungerte gården som tingsted og ett av rommene i hovedbygningen kalles fremdeles Tingstua.
