Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Brompton Regis: West Somerset Mineral Railway formation. The embankment with its line of trees delineates the former railway line which ran from a terminus at Gupworthy to the top of the 0.75 mile long incline leading to Comberow and Watchet. Here the line climbs from the west to cross the lane from Eastcott to the B3224 Wheddon Cross-Brendon Hill road. The railway was opened in 1864 to serve iron mines on the Brendons and was closed in 1898. It was worked by two small steam locomotives on the section above the incline
