Update 11 April 2015. At least the Brook Street sign hasn't lost any more bits since Martin's last photo on 29 March 2015. We've lost track of the weeks and months since this damaged streetname sign was first reported to Haringey Council. Entirely understandable, of course. There's no glamour for politicians in fixing a street sign. No drinks and nibbles with starchitects. No hobnobbing with directors of football clubs. No conferences in a building pretending to be a "Town Hall" - which they sold off years ago. Nor does it offer a smiling photo-opportunity with entrepreneurs of artisanal products; or "meanwhile" arts projects. Just the task of getting everyday, basic services right. Which appears to be something of little interest to Haringey Council's ambitious "leaders". |
