I waited several hours with that fine bird six feet away from me, just watching her and waiting for something to happen, for I have often noticed when photographing birds, that if you wait and let the female get well settled on her nest, the male will appear. I was hoping that this would occur, but although he came to within a few yards of my shelter, he would not come to the nest.
