| Description |
English: Letter mailed 8 November 1850 at the British post office in Alexandria, Egypt. In those days, postage was still often paid by the recipient but in this case it was paid by the sender. On arrival at Edinburg on 26 November it was therefore stamped "Paid". Indications on the back show that the letter was carried on the steamer Ripon which called at Malta and at Gibraltar before arriving at Southampton. |
