Summary

[edit]
Description

The EAP (Experimental Aircraft Programme) was built as a technology demonstrator. Although built by British Aerospace it was jointly funded by the MoD along with MBB of Germany and Aeritalia from Italy. Much of the research and technology would later be incorporated in what became the Eurofighter 2000 / Typhoon. It first flew in 1986 and had completed 259 test flights before retirement in 1991. From 1996 to 2012 it was loaned by BAe to Loughborough University, then moving to Cosford where it was placed on display in 2013 and is currently in the ‘Test Flight’ hangar. RAF Museum, Cosford, Shropshire, UK.
