English: The former Danish Fort Prindsensteen (Prince stone) in Keta had been taken over by the British in 1850, but had been abandoned in the meantime. In 1874 the fort was again occupied by British military, however, which was mainly for the purpose of levying customs duties. In Keta in 1892/93 were stationed about 200 British soldiers Hausa, together with the commander and a doctor, and the fort was used primarily as crew quarters and as prison.


Deutsch: Das ehemalige dänische Fort Prindsensteen (Prinzenstein) in Keta war 1850 von den Briten übernommen worden, war aber zwischenzeitlich aufgegeben worden. Ab 1874 war das Fort jedoch wieder von britischen Militär besetzt, was hauptsächlich zum Zwecke der Erhebung von Zöllen geschah. 1892/93 waren in Keta etwa 200 britische Haussa-Soldaten stationiert, nebst dem Kommandanten und einem Arzt, wobei das Fort überwiegend als Mannschaftsquartier und als Gefängnis genutzt wurde.
