Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Britain's Most Profitable Railway Line The investors' prospectus issued in 1874 by the grandly named Gorseddau Junction and Portmadoc Railway Company claimed that the revenue from this line "would be greater than that upon any railway yet constituted in the United Kingdom". In truth the line, was used mainly by horse drawn trucks. The company had only one - vertical boilered - steam engine, built locally, and little used. The line was dismantled in 1898. http://www.whrsoc.org.uk/WHRProject/gorseddau.htm
