Cecil H. Armitage was British Captain during the Ashanti Campaign and later (1910-1920) British "Commissioner of the Gold Coast Northern Territories". For his participation on the 1900 campaign he was decorated with the D.S.O. (Distinguished Service Order).
A.F. Montanaro was British Lieutenant-Colonel during the Ashanti Campaign and R.A. (Royal Academician).
