Summary

[edit]
Description

The RAF Museum has chosen to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the service by dismantling and closing the museum dedicated to its finest hour, the Battle of Britain Museum. Ever cloud has a silver lining, however, and during May 2016 the aircraft were in a part dismantled state, allowing for some interesting photos.

The Bolingbroke IV-T was identical to the Bristol Blenheim IV, but was built in Canada by Fairchild. This example, RCAF No 10001, was built in 1942 and served as a trainer until sold off in May 1946. It was stored derelict on a farm in Canada until purchased by the RAF Museum in April 1966. It finally arrived in the UK in 1968 and was stored at RAF Henlow. Between 1972 and 1978 the aircraft was completely restored and was painted to represent a Blenheim IV of 139sqn. On completion it went on display in the Battle of Britain Hall, where it remained until 2016. RAF Museum, Hendon, London, UK.
