Description
English: Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni) The "Field guide to the butterflies and other insects of Britain" says "The word butterfly was probably first used to describe this butter-coloured insect. It is a common species and is probably the first and last butterfly seen each year, as it can be in flight from February to November."Butterfly" eventually came to include all species and the brimstone acquired its present name which relates to the colour of sulphur."
