Summary
[edit]DescriptionBrimham Rocks - vintage postcard (25) 001.jpg |
Vintage tinted postcard of Brimham Rocks, North Yorkshire, England. It is one of the Phoenix Series, published by Brittain & Wright, Stockton on Tees. Printed in Saxony. The postcard is unused, and the back is transitional between undivided and divided, so I have dated it 1902-1905. Note: These tinted postcards were coloured in Germany, by artists, who painted over the original negative. In this one, the artist has created the skyscape, having coloured over the background rocks and scenery in order to clarify the outline of the Dancing Bear stone. The colours on this card have faded, while the picture has darkened due to age. The first upload is an unedited scan of the original postcard. The second upload has been edited to clarify some of the colour work. |
