English: Portrait (glass negative) of James Alexander Bell (1856–1926). Bell joined the 44th (East Essex) Regiment in 1875, transferring to the Indian Army in 1879. He was Political Resident in Aden from 1910 to November 1914. He was appointed KCVO during the visit of King George V to Aden in 1911. He retired from the Army in 1919. |
