| Description |
English: Bridging the Gap Carrying the road over the River Loe in the Gap of Dunloe. The bridge has unusual steps either side. They do not appear to be key stones and they do not seem to be steps to climb up; why would they be needed? The best explanation we could come up with was that planks were laid across the steps of equal height, depending on the water level, to ford the stream in times of torrent. But why not just walk over the bridge anyway. Further ideas welcome. |
