Original caption
U.S. Engineer Office photograph showing railroad tracks on the Pittsburgh side of the Allegheny River leading to the Fort Wayne Bridge. This is a view of the third version of the Fort Wayne Bridge (Pennsylvania Railroad), looking toward Allegheny City, today the North Side. A double-decked railroad bridge, it was built between 1901 and 1904. It replaced a railway bridge built ca. 1857, which itself replaced an even older, wooden span. The bridge crosses the Allegheny River east of Eleventh Street. The bridge is on the National Register of Historic Places.
