Washingtons birthday brought relief to the long sufferingFreshmen, though to be sure the agony was piled on pretty heavilythe night before. The customary exercises were held in the Gym-nasium, the Old Chapel having outlived its usefulness as the sceneof these time-honored festivities. After the speakers from the three lower classes had finishedtheir orations, W. W. Smith, of the Senior Class, took possession ofthe rostrum, and for over half an hour proceeded to roast his helplessclass-mates in the most approved manner possible. In the debatein the evening Gresham, 92, took first prize. So February, which, contrary to the common reckoning, is notusualy regarded as the shortest month by Princetonians, graduallywore itself away, and at last the long hoped-for end of winter came. 23B

MARCH. Ivl) ARIES came in the lion end of hisproverb. Such a treat of rain, windand mud as he gave us, has scarcelyever been equaled, even in the historyof Princeton. But during the bad weather outof doors, the members of the Dra-matic Association had been makinggreat strides in the progress of theirplay, and on the second the cast ofKatherine was announced to the Col-lege. That same day the Foot-ballAssociation held its annual massmeeting at which G. C. Fraser was elected President, and J.Mac. N. Thompson, Treasurer. On the eleventh Literature in Clio Hall gave way to eating andgood cheer. A large and enthusiastic Banquet was held in Uni-versity Hall. The sixteenth was made memorable by the Glee Club concert inPhiladelphia. A chorus of fifty reinforced the regular club, and thehuge Academy of Music was filled to over-flowing.
