| Description |
English: An IND mosaic and a newer Helvetica "EXIT" sign on the Jamaica-bound (eastbound) platform of the Briarwood (Briarwood–Van Wyck) subway station in Briarwood, Queens. Note that both read "Van Wyck Blvd" even though such a street no longer exists, replaced by the Van Wyck Expressway. Also note the faded IND painted sign pointing at least one of the exits; there used to be two fare control areas.
The currently layout of the station is somewhat bizarre, in which the main fare control area is situated between the center and southern ends of the station. The main exits, however, are at the north end of the station requiring a long passageway towards Main Street. Meanwhile, several pre-existing exits at the north end of the station are closed, likely due to the construction of the Van Wyck Expressway above the station. |
