DescriptionBriar Mill and Shaw & Crompton Metrolink station.jpg |
On Beal Lane, at the base of Briar Mill, is the forthcoming Shaw and Crompton Metrolink station, part of Transport for Greater Manchester's newly constructed Oldham and Rochdale Metrolink Line (ORL). This is possibly the first (public) photograph featuring a Metrolink "totem" at Shaw and Crompton. Installation of a variety of yellow corporate signage had taken place at the station over the last day or so. Briar Mill is a former cotton mill and industrial landmark in Shaw and Crompton that is now used by the N Brown Group as a distribution centre for Fulfilment Logistics (part of the N Brown Group, but best known as JD Williams/Jacamo/Simply Be etc). David Marsh of Kenmow Lawnmowers (pictured) hit the local press last year for his protest against MPact Thales' construction works which (he stated) was killing his business. I'm sure once the station is open, he won't mind the hundreds and thousands of passengers passing his business every week.... ;) |
