Description
English: View of the cockpit of the Brewster SB2A Buccaneer of the U.S. National Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola, Florida (USA). Note the gun camera on the right. The museum's SB2A was originally produced as an A-34 (s/n 462-860) of the U.S. Army Air Forces and operated from William Northern Field near Tullahoma, Tennessee (USA). Somehow the aircraft was at some point in its service pushed off the runway at that airfield into a nearby swamp. There collector Dave Talluchet found it and another A-34 during the mid-1970s. The aircraft were taken to the Naval Air Development Center (NADC) Warminster, Pennsylvania, which in part occupied the former buildings of the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation where it had been built. In an agreement with the collector, about sixty former Brewster employees, some of whom continued to work at NADC Warminster, undertook restoration of one of the Buccaneers, starting in 1978. However, the restoration was going very slow. In 2004, the aircraft was acquired by the NMNA and the plane was completed in 2007 and it was placed on indoor static display.
