The Juniata has a grand, rugged,dashing beauty peculiar to itself; here thesharp curves, the rushing river, the rockyshores, and the steep mountains are re-placed by a gently-flowing stream througha valley of green meadow land, formed bymountains of even slope and less than halfthe altitude of the Blue Ridge and Allegha-nies.
