English: Press conference "Europe on the train" in Bregenz on 16 September 2021 with a Siemens locomotive ES 64 U 2 (Taurus) in the "Europa-Design" (1116 276-7. 9.7.20), therefore also "EU-Lok". This locomotive was brought to the 25th anniversary of Austrian EU accession from the European Commission and the ÖBB on rail. She was inaugurated on 3 July 2020 in the ÖBB Central Station Vienna. Immediately after the inauguration, the EU locomotive drove off with around 10,000 hp and will set signs for the green deal throughout Austria, which should make Europe to a climate-neutral continent by 2050 at the latest. The locomotive has an hourly output of 6400 kW and can drove up to 230 km / h. The company Roco offers a model of this locomotive in the EU design under the name: ÖBB "25 years Austria in the EU" (BR 1116 276-7). The name "Taurus" (Latin for bull) is very suitable for the locomotive in the EU design. After the Greek mythology Godfather Zeus kidnaped the Phoenician royal daughter Eurṓpē (Europe), in a Stature as a bull on his back to Crete.
At the sight: Head of Department of European Affairs in the government : Martina Büchel-German and Governor Markus Wallner. |
