In the States from which complete census returns have been received, the proportion of lambs last year to the ewes was about 66 per cent. Chief Kneiphusen was foaled March 5,1897, and took the first prize in the San Francisco and San Mateo Horse Show in Tanforan Park. He has been bred to 52 mares and got 48 in foal.
