Rapperswil von Norden. Der Holzschnitt illustriert die Brandschatzung durch Rudolf Brun im Jahre 1350. Die Silhoutte der Stadt wird bereits in ihrer ersten Nordansicht exakt wiedergegeben: Vom Halsturm zieht sich die Häuserfront nach Westen bis zu Kirche [in der Bildmitte mit den zwei markanten Kirchtürmen] und Schloss. Der Wachturm am Westende [Endingerhorn, ab 1606 Standort des Kapuzinerklosters] des Burghügels und der vom Zürichsee umgebenden Halbinsel ist in die zinnenbekrönte Ringmauer der Stadtbefestigung eingefügt.

Anzumerken ist, dass die Stadtansicht gemäss Johannes Stumpf jene aus dem Jahr 1350 darstellen soll, die am Bildrand rechts erkennbare Holzbrücke Rapperswil-Hurden wurde im Auftrag von Herzog Rudolf IV. (Rudolf der Geistreiche) von Habsburg-Österreich aber erst in den Jahren 1358 bis 1360 erbaut. Obwohl bereits prähistorische Vorgängerbauten der Holzbrücke aus dem zweiten Jahrtausend v.Chr. bis ins 2. Jahrhundert n.Chr. archäologisch bestens dokumentiert sind, erwähnen die historischen Quellen aus spätmittelalterlicher Zeit Herzog Rudolf IV. als Baumeister/Initiant des "ersten Brückenbaus" von 1358/60.
