| Description |
English: Built in 1845, this Greek Revival-style house was constructed for Shadrach Inman as a wedding gift for one of his daughters. The house served as a military hospital during the Civil War in 1864, though a full-scale battle in the vicinity of Dandridge between the United States Army and the Confederate forces was avoided. The house features a side-gable roof, two painted brick chimneys at either end of the house, nine-over-nine double-hung windows, a front door with sidelights and a transom, vinyl siding covering the original wooden exterior cladding, a front porch with sawn wooden columns, a wooden balustrade, a shed roof, and wooden brackets, a gabled one-story rear ell, and a rough-hewn stone base. The building is a contributing structure in the Dandridge Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. |
