Padstow This is the first time in many years this quay has been visible from the shore, having being hidden from view by a thick growth of shrubs, which have now been cut back. Built originally in 1830 and run by a boat builder by the name of Carter, the quay originally had wooden gates across the entrance to keep the water in at low tide. Most people in Padstow remember the boatyard being run by the Brabyn family, starting off originally with Steve Brabyn. The Brabyn family now have a Cornish gig boat named in their honour Just off to the right of the pictures now stands a block of luxury apartments, the owner occupants of which are the only ones who now have access to the quay.
