JPEG file comment | Brünigbahn (Schweiz): Zug mit Lokomotive HG 2/2 zwischen Lungern und Brünig-Hasliberg; Ansichtskarte um 1900. Die Brünigbahn (Luzern – Meiringen – Interlaken) ist eine meterspurige Schmalspurbahn in der Zentralschweiz mit gemischtem Adhäsions-/Zahnradbetrieb (System Riggenbach). Die Aufnahme zeigt eine Berglokomotive des Typs HG 2/2. Die insgesamt 13 Loks dieser Reihe wurden zwischen 1887 und 1901 von der Schweizerischen Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik (SLM) in Winterthur für die Jura-Simplon-Bahn (J-S) gebaut, welche auch die Schmalspurbahn über den Brünig betrieb. Die Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen (SBB), welche 1903 die Nachfolge der J-S antraten, rangierten die schwachen Maschinen schon zwischen 1908 und 1912 aus. Eine einzige Lok überlebte als Reserve bis 1918.
