Title
Box Mount from Ryther
Description
English: Copper alloy

Box Mount; Helen Geake kindly notes parallels from medieval London. Cast copper alloy strip which expands at the position of a concavo-convex boss (of diameter 7.7mm and depth 1.4mm) with a central hole of 2.3mm diameter, presumably for fixing. The strip is broken at the edge of the boss, the other end being worn and perhaps the end of the strip as it was made. Two comparable objects were also recovered from the site, NLM-E21147 and NLM-E21B96. Suggested date: Early Medieval to Medieval, 800-1450.

Length: 24.7mm, Width: 7.9mm, Thickness: 2.0mm, Weight: 1.08gms.
