Description
English: Bowydd Quarry from the lead in to the top of the No2 Rhiwbach Tramroad inclined plane. Almost all the buildings on this, the main floor of Bowydd, have been demolished to make room for new roadways and facilitate partial untopping. The road in the foreground replaced the incline in 1972 as a means of transport to and from Maen Offeren Quarry. Waste from the huge tip on the right is being removed for crushing by the machinery in the centre of the photo. The roadway on the right past the tip leads to Llechwedd Quarry. Work at Bowydd is very intermittent and piecemeal.
