Bow brooch fragment
Description
English: A copper alloy Roman bow brooch fragment. It is the lower part of a bow brooch, consisitng of the bow only which is narow and rectangular and has the remains of a catchplate on the reverse. The bow is decorated with fine longitudinal reeding. It may be part of a Colchester derivative brooch, dating to the first century AD. The fragment measures 30.45mm in length, 5.45mm in width and weighs 3.2g.
