Summary

[edit]
Description

Bow-tie ornament on display as part of the "Jazz Age" exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States.

Boucheron is a French jeweller and watchmaker located in Paris, France. It was founded by Frederic Boucheron (1830-1902) in 1858. Within nine years, it had become the pre-eminent jeweler in Paris.

This 1920 brooch is typical of the whimsical jewelry exhibited by Boucheron at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. It mimics the lace bow ties common in the 1800s. The actual designer is not known. It is made of platinum and diamonds.
