Summary

Description
English: Old prieuré, now castle of Boutissaint, near Treigny in Puisaye, south of Yonne departement, Bourgogne, France. Built in the 16th century, it is now famous for its ~1,000 acre animal park spreading over ~1,000 acres, created in 1968. The park includes European bisons along with mouflons, deers, fallow deers, boars and many other local animals, in a forest typical of Puisaye: wild, with lots of streams and ponds and full of fascinating secret places. This side of the castle looks towards the north-west.

Old prieuré, now castle of Boutissaint, near Treigny in Puisaye, south of Yonne departement, Bourgogne, France: Boar wandering on the slope that used to border the north side of the "étang des Moines" (the "Monks' pond") before a tree fell on the levy that held the pond's water, breaking said levy and bringing the pond to totally dry up in a few short months. The owner and park manageress Mrs Valérie Galabert, daughter of the parc creator Mr Pierre-Elie Borione, has endeavoured to raise the cash needed to restore the pond, which is a needed watering point for the animals in the park.
