Description

The Bourdon Clock is a large bell that rings once a year, on the 4th of May: the Dutch commemoration day. The inscription reads:

"Ik luid tot roem en volging van die hun leven gaven tot wering van onrecht, tot winning der vrijheid en tot waring en verheffing van al Neerlands geestelijk goed."

Translation:

"I ring for glory and remembrance of those who gave their lives for stopping injustice, for gaining freedom and for protection and elevation of all Dutch spiritual effects"
