JPEG file comment | BOTTICINI, Francesco
(b.1446, Firenze, d. 1497, Firenze) The Three Archangels with Tobias c. 1470 Tempera on wood, 135 x 154 cm Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence The painting belonged to the Cappani altar in Santo Spirito, Florence. It is perhaps the masterpiece of this fresh and most pleasing minor master, who, from the close influence of Verocchio, here still prevalent (the work is of the youthful period, not later probably than 1470) passed over to a more flowery style under the influence of Botticelli, of whom, however, there is hardly a trace in this work.
