Die Pflanze stellt einen stattlichen Baum mit hohem, starkem Stamm dar, deroben eine Krone knorriger Äste trägt. Die 2,5—3 cm lang gestielten Blätter sind ge-trocknet oberseits dunkelbraun bis fast schwarz gefärbt, unterseits erscheinen sie mehrrötlichbraun; die Länge ihrer Spreiten beträgt 1,5—2 dm, ihre Breite 7—11 cm. DieBlüten stehen an 1,5—1,8 cm langen Stielen, ihr Kelch ist 1 —1,4 cm lang und in frischemZustande grüngelblich weiß gefärbt. Die lebend rein weißen Blumenblätter sind 2,4—2,8 cm
