Deutsch: Eine neue Kap-Cypresse, Dr R Marloth. Mit 1 Figur im Text.
Callitris schwarzii Marloth - A Zweigstück; B ein solches, 3 mal vergr.; C ein Internodium mit Blatt; D Zapfen; E Fruchtblatt desselben vergr.; F Same von der Fläche und von der Kante gesehen. Kapland: Koega- und Baviaanskloof-Berge, 800-1200 m (Marloth n. 3614).
Dieser Baum ist hier am Kap bisher mit demselben Namen (Sapreehout) belegt worden, welcher für C. cupressoides gebraucht wird. Er unterscheidet sich jedoch von dieser Art besonders durch die Zapfen. C. cupressoides ist außerdem nur ein Zwergbaumchen, das meist nur 3-4, selten 5 m hoch wird, während C. schwarzii 15 m und an geschützten Stellen der Schluchten 20 oder selbst 22 m Höhe erreicht. Diese Art schließt sich in der Form der Zapfen am meisten an C. juniperoides Endl., die sogenannte Kap-Ceder, an, in der Form der Samen aber der andern bisher von hier bekannten Art, C. cupressoides Schrad.
Zapfen 25 mm lang und 22 mm im Durchmesser. Samen (ohne Flügel) 5 mm lang, 3-4 mm breit, mit Flügel gemessen 10 mm lang und 6 mm breit. Die Samen von C. cupressoides haben eine ähnliche Form, aber etwas größere Flügel, diejenigen von C. juniperoides sind grösser und mehrkantig. Nach den Angaben des Hernn E. Schwarz, welcher mich auf den Baum aufmerksam gemacht hat, besitzt derselbe die Gestalt der einzeln stehenden Fichten (Picea excelsa [Lam.] Link).
