Description
Português: Era 30 de novembro de 1979 quando o ditador João Figueiredo estava presente na capital catarinense para conhecer o projeto de uma usina siderúrgica. A recepção ao ditador foi organizada pelo então prefeito Esperidião Amin e o governador Jorge Bornhausen, ambos do ARENA, que aconteceu no Palácio Cruz e Souza. Ao chegar na Praça XV de Novembro, foi recepcionado por uma manifestação estudantil que contava com mais de 4 mil pessoas. A Polícia Militar reprimiu, resultando em violência e 7 estudantes indiciados pela Lei de Segurança Nacional. Depois desse dia, a população presenciou semanas preenchidas por grandes manifestações com milhares, exigindo a liberdade dos estudantes e o fim do regime militar. Esperidião reprimiu com brutalidade e caçou os organizadores das manifestações, recebendo elogios da Cúpula Militar.
