Bordoodles are fast becoming a popular household pet. This cross was specifically designed for owners who want the border collie however, cannot provide the environment to accommodate their needs. Bordoodles are a cross between border collie and poodle (in Australia the poodle is miniature). This cross allows for urban style living.

Exercise Bordoodles do need exercise however, not to the same extent as a border collie. A walk or swim once a day is adequate. While they need less exercise than border collies they still need a moderate amount of exercise and you may find that they go stir crazy if they haven’t been out for a couple of days. They love the outdoors and are always up for a good adventure.

Temperament Bordoodles are friendly and playful dogs. Always seeking attention and approval. They are great with kids, very trustworthy and loyal and are considered a family pet. These dogs have been used as special needs dogs, agility dogs and so much more. They are also very intelligent as they are a cross between what is said as the two smartest dogs in the world. They can be taught a large variety of tricks and will easily pick them up with positive training. Because they are so friendly and want to impress their owner, they should be taught with positive reinforcement, Otherwise they may get upset and not have the same trust relationship with their owner. The bordoodle is known for its friendly nature which can be seen right from the early puppy stages. They love attention from both humans and other dogs and are always up for a play.

Appearance The Bordoodles coat is a mix between both a border collie and a poodle. They have a fleece coat which is soft, fluffy and minimal to low shedding. Unlike a poodle many Bordoodles do not have curls but a slight wave. The colour of there coat may also fade as they mature due to the poodle gene. As they don’t shed they will require to be clipped every so often. Bordoodles (that are crossed with a miniature poodle) weigh between 12-15kg on maturity, growing to a medium size dog. They have long legs and a lean body. Taking there body shape mainly from the border collie.

Overall, the Bordoodle is a perfect pet for any family.
