Summary
[edit]DescriptionBorage Field - geograph.org.uk - 191721.jpg |
English: Borage Field. I am pretty confident that this is a field of Borage (Borago officinalis) opposite the entrance to (Higher) Battlescombe Farm. Along the boundary of the adjacent field were numerous Beehives (see 192022) the occupants of which I assume are intended to feed on these aromatic flowers (apparently bees are particularly attracted to it). Borage is quite an unusual crop, it is a source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA) which is also found in Evening Primrose. It is harvested in late July or early August.
